Born on The Chesapeake

Built to Catch Fish Everywhere!

The story of Bass Kandy Delights began around 2001 on the waters of the Chesapeake Bay. Charter Captain Steve Seigel  and his wife Sandee wanted something simple: an artificial bait that was affordable, durable, and highly effective for catching the Chesapeake’s famous rockfish using light-tackle jigging techniques. The result was the Bass Kandy Delight — the BKD.

Its shape, carefully selected colors, open hook slot, and durable material weren’t accidental. They were developed from real experience on the water, where a lure ultimately has to prove itself by catching fish. And BKDs did exactly that.

Over the years, word spread among charter captains and fishermen throughout the Chesapeake Bay region. What began as Captain Steve’s solution for targeting rockfish became a trusted lure for anglers pursuing trophy fish.

A New Chapter

In January 2015, we had the opportunity to become the new owners of Bass Kandy Delights. We already knew the product. More importantly, we believed in it. Our goal has been to preserve what made the original BKD successful while introducing it to fishermen well beyond the Chesapeake Bay. We remain committed to the qualities on which the company was built: effective designs, proven colors, durable baits, and a product that gives fishermen real value.

25 Years — And Still Fishing

In 2026, Bass Kandy Delights celebrates 25 years. We’re proud of how far this little Chesapeake Bay lure has traveled, but we’re even more proud of where it came from. The BKD was created by a fisherman, for fishermen. Twenty-five years later, that’s still who we are.

To every charter captain, tackle shop, longtime BKD fisherman, and new customer who has opened one of our bags and put a BKD on a hook — thank you. You are part of the BKD story.
